The Australian Heritage Festival is a national, annual celebration that commemorates Australian and First Nations history.
The 2024 festival program includes a mix of free and ticketed activities, held in various metropolitan and regional locations within each state and territory. The festival theme is Connections – a theme intended to highlight and strengthen the cultural and historical ties between all who are connected by their experience of living in Australia. Exhibitions, tours, performances, ceremonies, workshops and demonstrations will all explore and respond to this theme.
Many of the events will be led by different groups committed to preserving history, such as councils, not-for-profit organizations, community groups, businesses, conservation groups, museums, galleries, libraries and churches.
The Australian Heritage Festival is organized, promoted, facilitated, and led by the National Trust. You can register to participate or run an event on the National Trust website.
