2022 NSW Country Division Awards announced

The Australian Institute of Architects’ NSW chapter has announced the winners of the 2022 Country Division Architecture Awards.

A contemporary take on a courtyard home in Northern NSW by Walknorth Architects received the highest honour, the James Barnet Award.

“Scribbly Bark House exudes timeless modernity and demonstrates an exceptional cohesion and connection to the land and surroundings,” the jury said. “This celebration of the contemporary family home, incorporating clever planning into a small yet generous footprint, means Scribbly Bark House is worthy of the 2022 James Barnet Award.”

BKA Architecture was awarded the top honour for Public Architecture for its work on the Mudgee Arts Precinct. The jury noted the design “captures a contemporary expression of the arts and architecture, respecting and enhancing a heritage environment”.

The NSW 2022 Country Division Architecture Awards Jury included Noel Thomson of Noel Thomson Architecture (chair); Carly Martin of Akimbo Architecture; Louisa Gee of Louisa Gee Architects; David Holm from Cox Architecture; and Jarad Grice of Sam Crawford Architects.
