A university robotics laboratory has claimed the top Australian prize at the 2022 Dulux Colour Awards, while a small-scale renovation won the equivalent prize in New Zealand.
The judges observed colour strategies that “challenged stereotypes” among the stand out projects, particularly in the Monash Robotics Lab by Studio Bright, which received the Grand Prix for Australia and the Commercial Interior – Public and Hospitality award. “Eschewing the clinical, sterile palette typically associated with science facilities, this lab is warm and inviting thanks to a play of earthy tones, colour pops and calming greens,” the judges said.
The New Zealand Grand Prix winner Eden View by Pac Studio was lauded for its “unwavering commitment to colour” that yielded a “transformative and highly effective result.”
“The degree of sophistication in this year’s award-winning projects is exemplary, a true testament to design professionals’ mastery of colour as an integral design tool,” said Dulux Colour and Communications Manager Andrea Lucena-Orr.
